LONG DISTANCE FRIENDSHIP

It’s not anymore long-distance-love-affairs that give a greater importance in my life but long-distance-friendships.

Maybe it’s that word “maturity”, maybe it’s pure coincidental…but what I’m sure of is that “lovers” comes and goes, but friends stays for life (That’s why it’s imperative that you have to be friends with that love of your life!)

Friends are more precious than jewels and I can say that I am lucky to be one of those to have found the largest ones. They may be thousands of miles away from me, I may be missing them so very much, and that I may be wishing everyday that they’re just arms length away…still, I’m thankful to be having them even just a message away. Long distance friendship works not just because of technology BUT because of that bond that have gone stronger through times…and it’s always better to have a little of them than nothing at all!

UNUSUAL FRIEND

The social network, Tagged gained me friends of different race…but mostly men. Of course, they’re the ones interested to talk.

It’s interesting to know of their cultures and their varying interests. I’ve always hungered for new learnings…especially about people. Their joy becomes my joy…and I use their eyes to see places I cannot personally see. I travel the world through their words.

My favorite “unusual” friend is a pure Canadian living in Burnaby. Scott loves diving, and with my fear for deep sea exploration, I’ve seen creatures of different kinds, and felt the excitement through his stories. He’s so nice and warm, and Filipino-like when it comes to manners. I feel at ease chatting with him. He even sent me some photos...and kept me updated of his activities.

He intended to leave the bone chilling winter of Canada when we last gotten the chance to give an account of our whereabouts, and enjoy the summer fun in a tropical country. He’s been asking me about our beaches here…but his present shift at work changed from the usual graveyard shift to early morning shifts. Our time difference suddenly spoiled our almost daily chats, and so it’s been weeks since we last had contact.

I miss the conversations…but then again, I can live without it.

YOUR TREAT!

High school friend Fe invited to meet up with me to discuss a business proposal, in addition to a long-time needed reunion. It has been four long years since we last been with each other. Though communication never faltered, we still were eager to spend a few hours together.

We met at the Mall of Asia, and had scrumptious meal at Italianni’s. It’s just the two of us, but we greedily ordered a huge pizza and a platter of greens. French bread was initially served, and with my cold latte’…started the 2 hour feasting.

It was really nice to look back on our HS days! The day was filled with laughter. We both updated each other of whereabouts and of news of our other friends. Apart from the superb food, the resto’s spot made it even more satisfying. The famous Manila Bay is in the distance, the continuous gust of wind coming from it in addition to the splendid sight of the beckoning surf almost made my eyes shut close with total relaxation. The soothing bossa nova whispering nicely from the speakers added to the tranquility of the surroundings.

I really had a magnificent time. Thanks to Fe and Italianni's! Even had a take-home pizza we were not able to stuff in our overly full tummy's=)...And I am definitely going back there for another “etched-in-your-mind-forever” time!

FEMALE HEART ATTACKS

Heart attack can happen to anyone. Young or old. Male or female. Yes, female. It is commonly heard that a dad, grandpa, uncle or a brother had a heart attack...but let us be forwarned that it's not only them. That even us, females, can have one too.

And so, we must know the facts, the factors, and the first-aide to an attack. Just like this friend of a friend who were able to see it coming thus was able to call the paramedics to her aide before she lost consciousness and saved her life!

It can happen anytime without any signs of it going to happen. You may not suspect it to being an attack right away, especially if you "believe" yourself to be healthy and active. Just as it did to Dana. She shared how it felt so we would be aware incase this thing happen to us. She said she felt indigested. Like there was a lump of food in her throat that she tried to wash off with water. But it then subsided, only to be followed by a squeezing sensation in her spine up to her chest, then to her throat, up until it spreads in her jaw. That, she said, made her realize that she's having a heart attack! Pain in the jaws!

She advised not to panick and call for help as soon as possible. If you're alone, call the paramedics and unlock the door so they can come in and see you right away. Position yourself near the door and lay down on the floor.

More important than this knowledge is the NEED FOR CHANGE NOW! Change in your lifestyle and your food choices. We need to be aware BUT moreso, we need to do something about it!
So, have your annual check-up now and have a cardiologist assess you!

It's always better to preemp than to be sorry after.

MY DEAR ELLA

There’s nothing more heartwarming

than to know that someone cares enough

to turn tables up-side down in search of a long lost friend.

…that’s how much this fella treasures friendship.

One can really count on her through thick and thin

(as in “ka-toothpickan” ko nung highschool days, hanggang “ka-balyenahan” ko ngayon)

She’s a friend I really hold dear to my heart.

BEST FRIEND EVY

…with 2 countries of friends and love ones, Who Wouldn’t Wanna Know Such Suprb Gal?!

And am one of the blessed ones to be a part of her life. Or better yet, she in mine.
For my life will definitely have a huge gap without her in it.
We’ve shared so many tears through the years…tears of laughter mostly =)

…and I hope to share MORE of my years with her…MY DEAR EVY!!!

A FRIEND IN THE NAME OF ANGEL

Mr. Right? Mr. Wrong?

Angel of Light? Dark Angel?

Mr. Big? AS IN BIG!

· BIG heart
he who befriends almost anyone (girl, boy,
bakla, tomboy)
he who unselfishly helps in a snap
he who love kids (any kid)

· BIG smile
he who makes people laugh
he who practically waves to so many
acquaintances
he who have instantaneous variation of green to silly comments

· BIG….. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? (HEY, WHAT’S SMALL
IN A 5’10” GUY?)

Mr. Doughnut? Dunkin’ Donut?

· Sugary sweet words that makes you dizzy
· Raindrops of charm that can put you into spell
· Dazzling close-up smile

MAY I DEFINE ANGEL:

a conflicting jumble of character depending on who he wants you to see (as in his self portrait , he himself sometimes couldn't tell anymore which is which)
-with steadfast unwavering belief in his decisions and principles
-bypass life's ups and downs without people sensing his struggle
-a witty opponent in whichever aspect (uses "patintero-style thus not easily conquered...and sometimes could even surprise you with quick turn of events with instead you being the one conquered)
-jumps from being mature to immature as he deem necessary
-COLORFUL in the truest sense of the word (sometimes white, sometimes black. can be blue or red, yellow or green)

...BUT IT SEEMS THAT THIS PERSONS COMPLEXITY CREATES MAGNETISM AND INTRIGUE TO THE POINT OF YOU BEING INDECISIVE WHETHER YOU LIKE HIM OR TO RAN-FAST-AWAY FROM HIM.

...BUT I TELL YOU --- he is definitely a person not easily forgotten for he leaves a lasting mark as he goes along his way.
