TIME TO GET A TAN

As much as I hate the high temperature...I love the fun of summer. It's not always fun, but then again we got to use up the incentives of going out and not spluttered by muddy side walks, dive into the pool and not freeze to death, go to the beach and find it empty.

NOW is the time to have a fun-filled summer. And so is the time to have a new look and get a tan! I have to admit, it's mighty nice to be fairer than others here in the tropics. Ladies with fair complexion are a lot attractive to the other sex here...yet, having a tan and still looking pretty proves that it's not just the white skin. And it's not a problem to get it back for me anyways. Come rainy season, I'm all fair again (wink! wink!) The thing is, it's harder to get the desirable tan. I will then just use the tanning lotion.

Wonder when and where to get that tan this time. We have wonderful beaches here. In fact, my sib just came from the wonderful island up north, Pagudpud Ilocos. Probably head there myself. And sooooon I hope ;)

SUMMER HEAT DURING RAINY SEASON

Can you believe the times…it’s already the rainy season, but the intense heat makes one feel the summer’s still on. The beaches and the famous resorts are still on the boom. And that’s where my friend Lorraine plans to spend her time when she comes for a visit in a few months time. She’s right now in UK, and is forever hoping to get a tan. I assured her she’s getting the best tan

here in the tropics.

Sometimes I’m glad to be here enjoying the sun…but lately, I wish I’m somewhere colder. The humidity and the heat is unbearable to the extreme on ordinary days. Well, yes it’s a different matter all together when I’m out in my swimsuit!!!

MORE OF THE REFRESHING CHANGE

After the sun sets…we headed to a less soothing environment…ISLAND SONGS! Videoke time! We thought we’re all full up to our ears with the early dinner we had, but our 2hour stay is still equivalent to 4 pizzas, clubhouse sandwhich, fries, chicharaps and fresh green mango shake. (we took home 2 of the 4 pizza’s, hehe!)

We really had a nice bonding time!

REFRESHING CHANGE

Native dinner atop the waves of Manila Bay, we shared fish head of Tanigue Sinigang (a one dish soup-based meal of salmon family fish and vegetables boiled in tamarind) sizzling sisig (a hot spicy dish of grilled then sauteed pork head with liver and chili pepper), laing (a hot vegetable dish using gabi leaves in coconut cream), crispy pata (authentic Filipino dish of deep fried until crispy and golden brown pork leg), pandan smelling rice in palayok and a pitcher of iced tea.
Camera forgotten with a sniff of these mouth-watering, superb array of food!

Fishing Village caters to those who loves to go fishing, and they cook and serves the catch as per request. Though, they also have selections of native Filipino cuisine, may it be chicken, meat, fish, seafood and vegetables.

Huts made of bamboos and palm leaves whispering with the breeze encased us as we partook our meals in rattan underplate with banana leaves over it. What a refreshing change from home-cooked meals.

It is a relaxing day. The whole fam all content to just enjoy each others company, the sunset, the soft fishy smell of the water, the distant voices from the other huts and the soft singing of a wandering trio carrying their instruments: the bass and solo guitar and tambourine. Each one capturing the moment with her own camera,… posing, clicking. A memory for keeps of a refreshing change!

HOPING TO SEE CEBU...once again

“Maribago Beach “, that’s what I remember most, the last time I visited Cebu 5yrs ago. White sand, native huts, locals and foreigners in the area. I need a place such as this again. A place to feel “summery”. If boracay means partying, this time it’s more of serenity I’m looking for. I need a quiet place to get an even tan, sip “buco” juice from its fresh coconut shell, enjoy the summer breze in a floater lying undisturbed…and do a little soul searching.

Life is short, enjoy it with friends and love ones while it last. And I prefer the beaches when it’s summer=)
