FAMILY REUNION

The maternal side of my family have the most reunion in our family tree. Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations...name it, we have it. I notice though that as time goes, absences from other members are getting more and more apparent. Such may be understandable more, than when it is within your family. Ours are still as it was before, family rituals, dinnertime, outings, weekend shoppings...we still do them together.
Bear in mind that these activities do not only reflect a family's stability, but is also a vital contributor to it. These gatherings help children to develop a sense of identity and belongingness. They make kids (in us and in our children) value continuity and changes in life. Families with severe problems benefit even more from it. Infact, I've read of a study in alcoholic family shows that children whose families established some sort of ritual are less likely to become alcoholics themseves, or to marry alcoholics.
